I Got the Blues
Combining the big-band clarinet swing of Benny Goodman, the dusky blues of Bessie Smith, the suave jazz of Duke Ellington, and tunes from other musical legends of the 1920s and ’30s, Blues in the Night is a look at the relationships among three women and one man set against the vibrant and frenetic backdrop of the jazz and blues eras. The show stars Freda Payne and Maurice Hines. Aug. 7–Sep. 30. $35–$75. Tu–Fri 8 pm, Sa 2 and 8 pm, Su 2 and 7 pm. Post Street Theatre, 450 Post St. www.poststreettheatre. com, 771-6900 Map 1, C5
